China's Hidden Gain from US-Iran Conflict
China's economy is benefiting from the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran. The war has diverted significant military resources from Washington, allowing Beijing to strengthen its position in the region.
The US Navy has committed approximately one-third of its fleet to the conflict, which has yet to yield a clear end goal. As a result, supplies of oil and other goods from the Persian Gulf are increasing, albeit not to pre-war levels. This development puts domestic pressure on the White House and makes it more challenging for the US to withdraw from the conflict.
China's interests in the region extend beyond Iran. Beijing has significant investments and assets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and Iraq, collectively more important to China as energy suppliers, sales markets, and economic partners than Iran.
