China's Scrap Metal Prices Plummet on August 20, 2026

China's scrap metal prices took a hit on August 20, 2026, according to the latest report from ScrapMonster. The report shows that copper prices continued to decline, with #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing each falling by CNY 1,000 per metric ton. This is a continuation of the downward trend seen in previous days.

Aluminum prices also recorded widespread declines across all categories. 6063 Aluminum Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots each fell by CNY 250 per metric ton. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers declined by CNY 100 per metric ton each on the index.

Stainless steel prices remained unchanged for certain grades, including 201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, and 309 SS. However, brass and bronze scrap prices in China recorded a decline over the previous day, with Red Brass and Yellow Brass each down by CNY 150 per metric ton.
