CIMC Equipment Delivered for Planned CNG Mother Station in Akwa Ibom State
A major milestone has been achieved in Nigeria's gas infrastructure development project. Nsik Oil & Gas Company Limited has received the first batch of equipment for a planned 10 million standard cubic feet per day compressed natural gas (CNG) mother station in Akwa Ibom State.
The equipment, manufactured by Chinese company CIMC, arrived on Wednesday night and Thursday morning and includes four reciprocating compressors, drying and filtration systems, heat exchangers, and four generator sets. The project team had conducted factory acceptance tests with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in China before shipping.
The mother station is expected to supply gas not only to its own community but also to a network of planned daughter stations across Akwa Ibom State. The company has ordered two trailers for transporting compressed gas, which will provide CNG to motorists and industrial enterprises outside the community.
Project consultant Mkposong Asuquo said that the site is located about 500 meters from Frontier Energy and three kilometers from Savannah Energy's Accugas facility, from which the project plans to receive gas feedstock. The project is a partnership between Nsik Oil & Gas and the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund, overseen by Nigeria's Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
