Clinton County Voters to Decide on Natural Gas Aggregation Program
Voters in unincorporated Clinton County areas will decide this fall whether to allow a countywide natural gas aggregation program, aimed at securing competitive energy rates through collective purchasing power.
The proposed program would grant the Clinton County Board of Commissioners authority to negotiate bulk natural gas supply contracts on behalf of eligible township residents. This measure applies exclusively to residents living in unincorporated areas of the county and will not affect those residing within incorporated cities and villages.
Under the aggregation model, local governments bundle energy demand from eligible residential and small-business accounts to negotiate fixed or discounted pricing with certified natural gas suppliers. Clinton County already operates a similar program for retail electric service.
