CME Group Expands Trading Hours to 24/7 for Silver Futures
CME Group has announced that it will expand its trading hours to 24/7 for its 100-Ounce Silver futures contract starting September 11, pending regulatory review. This move follows the July 24 launch of 24/7 trading for 1-Ounce Gold futures, which saw over 53,000 contracts trade during weekend sessions, representing approximately $219 million in notional value.
Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, stated that retail clients have shown strong appetite for right-sized gold futures available during extended hours. The company is extending the same access to silver futures to help participants manage risk.
The 100-Ounce Silver futures contract launched in February 2026 and traded an average of 17,800 contracts daily in the first half of 2026. CME Group's metals business recorded 1.3 million contracts traded daily during the same period, up 55% year-over-year.
