CME Group's 24/7 Gold Contract Sees $60 Million Traded In Debut Weekend
The CME Group's new 24/7 one-ounce gold contract has seen significant trading activity since its launch in January 2025, with $60 million traded during its inaugural weekend. According to the exchange, 15,000 one-ounce futures contracts were traded over this period, representing a notable level of interest from investors.
Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, stated that the launch demonstrates retail traders' readiness for 'always-on, regulated and right-sized products to manage their exposure to gold.'
Notably, this is not an isolated event. The exchange has seen unprecedented demand for gold in 2026, with a record $125 billion in average daily notional value traded across its gold futures contracts so far this year.
