Indraprastha Gas (IGL) has announced that CNG prices in Delhi and surrounding areas will increase by Rs 3.89 per kg from 6 am on Saturday, bringing the new price to Rs 86.98 per kg.

This hike is the fifth increase in CNG prices since the West Asia conflict began, with rates across several northern Indian cities already rising by a cumulative Rs 6 per kg through four previous increases starting May 15th.

The company attributes the higher costs to imported liquefied natural gas (LNG), whose spot-market prices have surged significantly due to increased international demand. Global LNG prices have nearly doubled from pre-crisis levels, with efforts in Europe to replenish natural gas storage ahead of winter contributing to the pressure on global supply.

IGL aims to partially offset these higher costs through this price revision while maintaining continuity and reliability of CNG supplies.
