CNOOC Sees Potential for Energy Cooperation with US Amid Improved Relations

Chinese state-owned oil and gas major CNOOC sees potential for energy cooperation between China and the US, its CEO said. This comes after a year of trade tensions between the two countries.

In May, President Donald Trump visited Beijing, and US officials mentioned the possibility of energy deals, including China buying more liquefied natural gas. However, nothing has emerged yet.

CNOOC CEO Huang Yongzhang noted that there is still room for cooperation in the future: 'The U.S. is currently the world's largest producer and exporter of LNG, while China is currently the largest importer of LNG.'

The company would consider investing alongside US partners in the future, according to Huang.
