Coastal GasLink Phase 2 to Proceed with LNG Canada Expansion
TC Energy Corporation announced that Coastal GasLink (CGL) Phase 2 will proceed following LNG Canada's positive Final Investment Decision (FID). This decision satisfies the conditions associated with TC Energy's previously approved conditional FID for the project.
The CGL pipeline currently transports approximately 2.1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas, but Phase 2 will nearly double its capacity by adding new compressor stations and upgrading facilities along the existing route.
TC Energy President and Chief Executive Officer François Poirier stated that Coastal GasLink was a nation-building project that established Canada's first direct path for natural gas to reach global LNG markets. Phase 2 will build on this legacy by strengthening Canada's role in supplying reliable, affordable, and secure energy to global markets.
The commercial agreements for the project have been structured to limit CGL's capital commitments and overall exposure to construction cost and schedule risks. This integrated model for delivery will be led by LNG Canada as Phase 2 Execution Manager, with TC Energy providing technical advisory and procurement services along with operational expertise.
