Codrus Minerals Pivots to Copper with EdgeMet Acquisition
Codrus Minerals (ASX:CDR) has completed its acquisition of EdgeMet, adding copper and molybdenum exploration projects to its portfolio. The deal includes the Copperhole Creek copper project in Queensland and the Tiquihua molybdenum project in Peru.
The acquisition also brings early-stage flash joule heating technology rights linked to Rice University in Houston. Flash joule heating applies a rapid, intense electrical current to generate extremely high temperatures in materials over a very short time.
Codrus now owns all of the issued capital of EdgeMet, with every condition precedent under the share sale agreement either satisfied or waived. The board described the addition of Copperhole Creek and Tiquihua as a significant expansion of the company's exposure to copper, molybdenum and other critical minerals.
The copper market is currently trading near record highs, driven by sliding Shanghai warehouse stocks, labour unrest at Chilean mines, and doubts that Cobre Panama will return as a durable source of supply. Codrus's move is part of the broader shift towards copper-focused acquisitions in the ASX Metal & Mining Stocks space.
