Commodities Markets Mixed as Corn and Soybeans Rise
Closing markets for Tuesday, August 25 saw mixed results across various commodities. On the Chicago Board of Trade, corn futures experienced gains, with September futures up 10 at $5.01 and December futures up 8 at $5.24. Soybean futures also rose, with September futures up 13 at $12.29 and November futures up 14 at $12.38. In contrast, wheat futures saw a slight increase, with September futures up 5 at $6.87 and December futures up 5 at $7.04.
Live cattle futures took a downturn, with October futures down 277 at $210.82 and December futures down 227 at $211.92. Feeder cattle futures also declined, with September futures down 487 at $319.35 and October futures down 462 at $313.65.
In related news from Agris at Thamesville, the 2026 crop corn price rose by 8 cents to $6.63 per bushel, while the 2027 crop corn price increased by 8 cents to $6.32 per bushel. Soybean prices for the same years saw a rise of 13 cents to $16.17 and $15.23 per bushel, respectively.
The Ontario Pork Reports noted that the U-S CME price dropped by $0.11 from the previous day to $92.81 per hundredweight, dressed weight, while the 100% formula price rose by $1.10 to $232.60 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
