Commodities Mixed as Gold and Silver Shine, Natural Gas Falls
Global commodity markets showed mixed results last week, despite some metals recording gains. Gold prices increased by 0.36%, while silver advanced by 3.01%. Copper rose 2.16%, lead gained 1.66%, and zinc added 1.40% to its value.
The broader market remained uncertain as investors assessed various factors, including Federal Reserve policy, Treasury yields, inflation expectations, and currency movements. Precious base metals generally performed well during the week.
However, natural gas prices declined by 2.13%, while Light Sweet Crude Oil rose 0.68% due to market concerns surrounding supply disruptions in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. Agricultural markets saw soybean increase by 0.54%, but corn fell by 0.52%. US Sugar No. 11 also dropped 4.65%
Market participants are now looking ahead to key economic indicators, including U.S. New Home Sales and Initial Jobless Claims, which could provide further insight into global commodity market direction.
