Commodity price volatility significantly impacted corporate fortunes in British Columbia, according to the latest list of fastest-growing companies released by Business in Vancouver. The list examines five-year revenue growth between 2021 and 2025.
Precious metal prices surged through 2025, with silver increasing by approximately 129% from $31.30 per troy ounce at the start of the year to $71.65 per troy ounce at the end. Gold prices also rose by about 65.35%, going from $2,624.50 per troy ounce at the beginning of 2025 to $4,339.65 per troy ounce.
Imperial Metals was a notable beneficiary of the high gold price, given its core products are gold and copper. The company's CEO, Cathy Zhai, acknowledged that commodity prices play a significant role in corporate fortunes but emphasized operational efficiency also affects performance.
