Commodity Prices, Operational Efficiency Drive B.C.'s Fastest-Growing Companies
The B.C. companies that made it to the top of Business in Vancouver's list of fastest-growing companies between 2021 and 2025 share several common traits, including a reliance on commodity prices and operational efficiency.
Monument Mining Ltd.'s CEO Cathy Zhai said that gold price always plays a role in her company's fortunes. The gold price more than doubled in 2025, from $2,624.50 per troy ounce at the start of the year to $4,339.65 by the end.
Monument Mining saw its revenue grow by 374% over the five-year period, reaching $138.1 million in 2025. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd., which produces silver, ranked No. 3 on the list with an 816% increase in revenue to $128.9 million.
Imperial Metals Corp., which has faced charges related to a devastating mine-waste accident at its Mount Polley Mine in 2014, saw its revenue rebound significantly after hitting rock bottom. The company's shares closed at less than $1 each in August 2018 but recovered to $9.35 by the end of August 2025.
However, Burcon NutraScience Corp.'s surging revenue did not translate into higher profits or a rising share price. The company's annual net loss widened by 2,208.7% in 2025, reaching $14,253,391.
