Community Co-op's Discount Day Draws Hundreds
The Community Co-op's annual discount day drew in hundreds of visitors to its C-Store on Division Street. The event, which has been running since 2014, offered discounted fuel prices, including unleaded 88 for $3.22 and E-85 for $2.05.
Director of Operations Kelley Watts attributed the high turnout to the current state of fuel prices, saying 'every bit of savings helps.' The co-op's partnership with the Dakota/Rice County Corn & Soybean Association made the discounts possible, as the association produces ethanol from corn and soybeans.
General Manager Lisa Karl explained that being a cooperative allows Community Co-op to have more leeway in doing community-based events like this. 'We're owned by our patrons,' she said, adding that the co-op pays dividends back to its customers based on their purchases throughout the year.
