ConocoPhillips Chairman Predicts Oil Prices to Hit $70 Per Barrel
ConocoPhillips Chairman Ryan Lance predicts that the oil price floor could climb to around $70 per barrel. Speaking at the Energy Intelligence Forum in London on Monday, Lance also forecasted that West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices would likely settle between $65 and $70 per barrel under normal market conditions.
Lance noted that the global oil system has managed to navigate conflicts in the Middle East this year without significant disruptions. He also projected that U.S. oil production could surpass 14 million to 14.5 million barrels per day if prices remain at current levels.
According to Lance, global oil demand will take until 2028 or 2029 to fully recover from the current crisis. Beyond that point, he sees no factors that would halt the growth of oil demand. This presents a strategic challenge for oil companies, particularly in sourcing enough conventional production to meet rising demand.
ConocoPhillips is currently prioritizing upstream investments over midstream projects, reflecting a focus on production and exploration over refining and transportation.
