ConocoPhillips Secures 20-Year LNG Supply Deal with Venture Global
ConocoPhillips (COP) has struck a long-term deal with Venture Global (VG) to secure 1 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually. The agreement, set to begin in 2030, will span 20 years. VG expressed enthusiasm about supporting COP’s efforts to expand its global LNG portfolio.
COP remains optimistic about the future of LNG, projecting demand to double by 2050. The company is actively growing its LNG offtake portfolio to meet this rising demand. However, recent conflicts in the Middle East disrupted COP’s Qatar LNG operations, temporarily shutting down the Ras Laffan plant. Despite these challenges, the NFE and NFS projects in Qatar are progressing as planned.
The company aims to build its LNG portfolio to a target of 10-15 million tons per annum (MTPA). This expansion is expected to drive long-term cash flow growth as global LNG demand continues to rise.
COP currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), while VG is rated #1 (Strong Buy). Other well-ranked energy stocks include Valero Energy (VLO) and Galp Energia SGPS SA (GLPEY), with Zacks Ranks of #1 and #2 (Buy), respectively.
