Copper Price Rally Fueled by Falling Chinese Inventories and Mine Disruptions
Copper prices remain strong near record highs after five consecutive days of gains. The key driver behind this strength is the decline in Chinese inventories, which has tightened supply in the short term.
The Shanghai spot premiums have also risen, supporting the copper price. Additionally, disruptions at mines are contributing to the upward trend.
However, there are some cautionary signs. Weak import demand and pressure on China's property sector may slow down the rally. The technical outlook remains positive, though, with improving strength in copper suggested by ratios between copper, gold, and silver.
