Copper Prices Climb for Sixth Straight Day Amid China's Shrinking Inventories
Copper prices continue their upward trend, marking the sixth consecutive day of growth on September 22, 2026. This increase is largely driven by shrinking copper inventories in China.
According to Radiotrek, Світ, the three-month futures on the London Metal Exchange rose by 0.6%, reaching $14,745 per ton, or approximately $14.75 per kilogram. Earlier this month, these futures hit an all-time high of $14,858.50 per ton.
The decline in cathode copper stocks in Shanghai to 43,900 tons on September 22, 2026, marks their lowest level since 2023. This reduction is fueling demand while restricting supply. An industry insider notes that 'The upward trend is supported by the situation in the Chinese market.'
Copper prices are also affected by the situation in Ukraine, where the average purchase price stood at 575.75 UAH per kilogram on September 22, 2026, while the exchange price was higher at 670.58 UAH per kilogram.
