Copper Prices Plummet on Strong Dollar and Rising Oil Costs
Copper prices fell to their lowest in 10 days on Monday, weighed down by rising oil prices and a strong US dollar.
The benchmark three-month copper price on the London Metal Exchange (LME) dropped 1.06% to $14,467.50 per metric ton by 0332 GMT, its lowest since September 18.
The Shanghai Futures Exchange's most-traded copper contract fell 0.72% to 109,420 yuan ($16,296.08) per ton, also reaching a 10-day low.
The decline in copper prices was influenced by the strengthening US dollar and rising oil prices, which increased concerns over disruptions to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
