Copper Prices Soar on Supply Concerns and Strong Demand
Copper prices have reached an all-time high as supply concerns and strong demand drive prices higher.
Metals trader Sprott Asset Management warns that global mined copper production could decline this year for the first time since 2017 due to supply disruptions, declining ore grades, and weak output from Chile.
The disruptions at major mines in Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of Congo are estimated to reduce annual production by 600,000 tons.
The strong demand for copper remains robust across power grids, AI data centers, and the defense sector, with the recent rally in technology and AI stocks further strengthening the demand outlook.
