Copper Prices Soar to New Record Highs Amid Market Uptick
Copper prices have rebounded to new record highs after a brief dip due to concerns over new U.S. tariffs.
The White House's decision not to impose new tariffs has led to increased buying and stockpiling of the metal, driving prices up by 0.7% on the London Metal Exchange (LME) to $14,186 per metric ton as of September 16.
This surge in copper prices is part of a broader market trend, with aluminum prices rising 0.8% and nickel prices increasing by 1.6% over the same period.
In Ukraine, scrap metal prices have also increased, according to Metalolom.biz, which calculates prices based on current purchase prices at collection points in various regions of the country. As of September 16, pure copper is selling for approximately 481.36 hryvnia per kilogram, while copper cable and shavings are priced at around 400 hryvnia and 398.75 hryvnia per kilogram respectively.
