Copper Processing Industry Cautious Ahead of National Day Holiday
The copper processing industry in China is preparing for the National Day holiday, which will see varying production arrangements and cautious stockpiling due to high copper prices and tight supply.
A survey by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) of 98 downstream copper processing enterprises with a total annual capacity of 16.7348 million mt found that the industry is operating at low inventory levels, with most enterprises purchasing raw materials as needed rather than stockpiling in advance.
The survey showed that copper cathode rod and secondary copper rod industries are expected to see declines in their operating rates in October, while the copper plate/sheet and strip industry is cautiously optimistic about its traditional peak season materializing.
