Copper Slides Ahead of Weekend Amid Global Market Volatility
Copper prices have been trending lower ahead of the weekend, with COMEX Copper futures experiencing weak overall movement. The red metal currently quotes at $6.77 per pound, a decline of 0.40% from previous levels.
Despite coming off record highs, copper still holds steady for the week, but the current downturn suggests some caution is warranted.
In other markets, China's Shanghai Composite index took a hit, falling 1.20%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1%. Japan's Nikkei average bucked this trend, however, rising 1.3%.
European stocks showed a more positive picture, with German and French indices rallying around 0.70%. Meanwhile, in the US, the Dow Jones fell 0.3%, while the Nasdaq Composite was little changed, and the S&P 500 also declined marginally.
