Copper Surges on Chinese Market Tightness and Supply Fears
Copper prices have seen an increase of 0.76% on last week's close, closing at $14,632 a metric ton on the London Metal Exchange.
This rise is attributed to tightness in China's market, where visible inventories have dropped by 15.9% from last Friday's total of 47,147 tons, according to the Shanghai Futures Exchange's weekly stock report.
BHP's Escondida mine, the world's largest copper mine, suspended operations on Wednesday after a worker was killed in an accident, adding to supply concerns.
