Copper Tumbles to Multi-Day Low on Weak China Data
Copper prices tumbled to a multi-day low on Monday due to weak Chinese profit data and a firmer U.S. dollar.
The benchmark LME copper price dropped 1.8% to $14,364 per metric ton, touching its lowest level since September 17th.
The decline was largely attributed to soft August industrial profit figures from China, the world's largest copper consumer, which weighed on demand expectations.
Rising oil prices added further pressure on copper, amplifying the impact of weaker Chinese data and a stronger dollar.
