Coppercore Secures 10-Year Lease for Colombian Copper Concentration Facility
Coppercore Inc., a copper and critical minerals company, has secured a 10-year lease for a copper concentration facility in Colombia's Magdalena department. The facility will be used to process oxide copper ores using a proprietary alkaline flotation methodology, eliminating the need for sulfuric acid.
The plant is expected to produce 1,000 metric tons of copper concentrate per month initially, scaling up to 2,000 metric tons within 12-18 months. The facility will be powered by solar and wind energy, aiming for a zero-carbon footprint. Coppercore has also established a centralized ore purchasing platform, aggregating material from independent producers and verifying each supply relationship.
The company believes that this lease marks its transition from development to production at a time when global copper demand is accelerating. According to the International Energy Agency, there will be a 30% supply shortfall of approximately by 2035.
