Coppernico Secures 5,000-Meter Drilling Contract at Sombrero
Coppernico Metals Inc. has secured a major milestone in its exploration of the Sombrero copper-gold project in Ayacucho, Peru.
The company signed a drilling contract with AK Drilling International S.A., committing to at least 5,000 meters of diamond drilling across multiple targets once it receives the required authorization from Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines, expected in the coming months.
This agreement comes as copper prices have climbed sharply, reaching US$6.6006 per pound, a 42.86 percent increase from last year, driven by supply constraints and rising demand from data centers, renewable energy, and grid upgrades.
Coppernico has received approval for a larger drilling area after its EIA Semi-detailed approval expanded the permitted zone from roughly 904 hectares to 3,122 hectares, allowing up to 300 holes from 181 platforms.
