The Coral North floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project is set to become Mozambique's second FLNG development, following the successful start of production at Coral South in 2022.

Coral North will develop gas from the northern part of the Area 4 Coral reservoir using a new FLNG facility with a liquefaction capacity of 3.6-million tonnes a year.

The project is owned by a joint venture comprising Eni (50%), China National Petroleum Corporation (20%), Korea Gas Corporation (10%), Mozambique’s Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (10%) and XRG (10%).

Eni announced the launch of the FLNG hull in Geoje, South Korea, in January 2026. JGC Holdings was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract for the project by Mozambique Rovuma Venture on behalf of the Area 4 partners.
