Corn and Soybean Growers Still Struggling with Tight Margins Despite Market Gains
The National Corn Growers Association and American Soybean Association released a joint report detailing the ongoing economic pressures faced by corn and soybean growers, despite recent price improvements in both commodity markets. The report analyzed survey results from 1,200 farmers across the country, showing that nearly two-thirds of growers are moderately or very concerned about the farm economy.
The survey also found that 46% of growers are more concerned about their farm financial situation than they were a year ago. This concern persists even with stronger prices in recent weeks, as corn prices have improved substantially in the past few weeks.
'It's an interesting time to receive this feedback from corn and soybean growers,' said Krista Swanson, NCGA Chief Economist. 'Corn prices have improved substantially in recent weeks, which helps grower sentiment.'
The report highlights the complex nature of on-farm economics, where business decisions for a single growing season often stretch across multiple years.
