Corn Farmers Face Harsh Harvest Sell-or-Store Decision
Corn farmers are facing a tough decision this harvest season: sell their corn immediately or store it in bins for later sale. According to Sam Hudson of Cornbelt Marketing, selling now versus storing grain comes with its own set of challenges.
Hudson explained that the market is trying to find a price where demand can be shut off on the front end and carry can be put into the market. However, as of yet, this hasn't been achieved.
Hudson also anticipates the USDA to lower corn yields in its upcoming supply and demand report, which could impact farmers' decisions.
