Corn Futures Fall Below Key Moving Average
The price of December 2026 corn futures has dropped below its 200-day moving average to close at $464.0.
According to Stephen Davis, senior market strategist at Walsh Trading, this presents a buying opportunity for traders.
In his August 4 update, Davis pointed out that several recent agricultural reports have highlighted issues with the corn crop, including a 2% decline in corn rated 'good or excellent' and a 2% increase in corn rated 'poor or very poor.'
However, the USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board (WAOB) has noted that warm weather is promoting corn development ahead of a cold front crossing the upper Midwest.
