Corn Futures Rise Amid Expectations for Pro Farmer Tour Results
Chicago corn futures rose on Monday as traders awaited results from the Pro Farmer field tour scheduled for this week. The tour will provide additional information about corn and soybean yields following last week's lower yield forecasts from the USDA.
The USDA is set to release its weekly crop ratings report on Monday afternoon, offering further insight into current field conditions. In Brazil, farmers in the center-south region had completed 85% of their 2026 second corn crop harvest as of Thursday, according to agribusiness consultancy AgRural. This represents an increase from 79% the previous week but lags behind the 94% completion rate recorded during the same period last year.
Parts of the US Midwest have seen flooding due to heavy rainfall, raising concerns about possible crop disease and damage to the harvest. The most-active corn contract rose 6-1/4 cents to $4.89-1/2 a bushel.
