Corn Grower Groups Invest in New Technologies through Radicle Corn Challenge
Corn grower groups in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri are investing in new technologies to create future demand for corn. The Radicle Corn Challenge recently awarded investments to Citroniq and Future Origins.
Citroniq is developing bio-based plastics made from corn ethanol, while Future Origins uses corn-derived feedstocks to produce ingredients for home and personal care products. This effort aims to create new, high-value markets for corn beyond its traditional uses in food, feed, and fuel.
Jacob Knaebel, director of market development for the Missouri Corn Growers Association, said the challenge is focused on creating long-term opportunities for corn farmers. The challenge is backed by 12 corn organizations, including the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Illinois Corn Marketing Board, and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council.
The Radicle Corn Challenge aims to create a scalable industry that will set up farmers for success in the future. With increasing corn production, this initiative seeks to establish long-term opportunities for corn farmers through new technologies and markets.
