Corn Prices Climb on Tuesday After Mixed Market Session
Corn prices are showing early gains on Tuesday, up 4 to 5 cents after a mixed session on Monday. December corn futures closed down ½ cent, while other front-month contracts were steady or slightly higher. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price fell ¼ cent to $4.59 ¾.
On Monday, the USDA reported a private export sale of 129,540 metric tons of corn to Mexico, scheduled for shipment in the 2026/27 marketing year. The Crop Progress report revealed that 83% of the U.S. corn crop was mature as of October 4, with harvest progress at 23%, lagging 4 percentage points behind the average pace. Condition ratings dropped 3% to 54% in good to excellent condition.
USDA’s weekly Export Inspections report showed corn export shipments at 1.368 million metric tons for the week ending October 1, down 19.63% from the previous week but 13.49% higher than the same week last year. Key destinations included Mexico, Japan, and Colombia. Marketing year exports for 2026/27 are now 4.4% above the same period last year.
AgRural estimates that 38% of Brazil’s first corn crop was planted as of last Thursday, slightly behind the 40% planted the same week last year. December 2026 corn futures closed at $4.97 ¼, down ½ cent, while nearby cash corn was at $4.59 ¾, down ¼ cent. Nearby contracts are currently up 4 ¾ to 5 cents.
