Corn Prices Dip Amid Mixed Market Movement
Corn prices began the week on a downward trend, falling by 1 to 2 cents in early Wednesday trading. This follows a mixed day for futures on Tuesday, which posted fractional gains of up to 2.5 cents across the board.
The gains were part of a broader market movement, with grains and crude oil also seeing increases after a slower morning session. However, open interest was down by 2,782 contracts on Tuesday.
A slight increase in corn prices was noted on Tuesday afternoon, with the CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price rising by 3.25 cents to $4.87.
The upcoming harvest season may be impacted by weather forecasts, which predict 1-3 inches of rainfall in parts of Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota through Iowa and the Eastern Corn Belt.
The CONAB data released on Tuesday showed a slight increase in Brazil's corn crop for the 2025/26 season, with an estimated 144 million metric tons. An initial estimate for the 2026/27 crop was also provided, at 148 million metric tons by CONAB, compared to the USDA's 139 million metric tons.
