US corn futures extended their losing streak to six days, marking the longest decline since early 2025. The downturn was driven by harvest pressure and weak export demand, prompting hedge funds to offload their positions rapidly.
The most active corn contract in Chicago dropped as much as 0.5%, hitting its lowest level since August 12. This decline coincided with a nearly 50% week-on-week drop in corn export inspections, which fell to 672,500 tons for the period ending October 15.
Total sales for the marketing year have also declined, down 2.3% annually. The weak demand and rapid selling by hedge funds have contributed to the prolonged slump in corn prices.
