Corn Prices Surge on Chinese Demand and Black Sea Concerns
Corn prices saw an uptick on Monday morning, September 21, 2026, with December corn increasing by 10¢ to $5.37½ per bushel.
The price rise comes as farmers and traders are awaiting the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington, which is expected to lead to increased purchases of US soybeans and other agricultural products.
Heavy rains in parts of the Midwest over the weekend have also contributed to the surge in corn prices. Additionally, renewed concerns about Black Sea grain exports following drone attacks between Ukraine and Russia have boosted wheat futures.
Al Kluis, managing director of Kluis Commodity Advisors, suggests that grains may find a pre-harvest low this week or next week, potentially signaling a change in trend.
