Costco Raises Motor Oil Prices Amid Global Supply Shortages
Costco has implemented new motor oil pricing and purchasing restrictions due to supply shortages and higher demand. The company's 2-pack full-synthetic motor oil, which was previously sold at around $30, is now priced at $58 for a 10-quart case.
This price increase affects the SAE 5W-30 and high mileage versions of the lubricant. Costco has also set a weekly purchasing limit on the item, allowing members to buy no more than two cases per week.
The higher cost is attributed to the nearly 7-month Iran-U.S. War and the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which have disrupted oil imports to the U.S.
