Cotton Futures Soar as Weather Outlook Improves
Cotton futures finished Wednesday's trading session on a strong note, climbing by as much as 25 to 93 points at the close. The commodity saw gains despite a slight drop in crude oil prices.
The US dollar index also rose by $0.227, but its impact on cotton's performance was not significant enough to offset the gains made by the futures contracts.
Looking ahead, the 7-day forecast for Texas shows relatively dry conditions with scattered light totals, while the Gulf region is expected to receive totals nearing an inch.
Certified stocks of ICE cotton rose by 2,567 bales on August 25, bringing the total to 66,327 bales. The Adjusted World Price also increased by 143 points last week to 69.62 cents/lb.
