Cotton Prices Surge Amid US-China Trade Truce Extension
Cotton prices are surging on Thursday morning, with gains ranging from 47 to 75 points across various contracts. This follows Wednesday's trading session, where futures saw increases of 2 to 36 points, except for thinly traded October, which dropped by 78 points.
The US dollar index rose $0.531, while crude oil prices increased by $2.19 per barrel. Ahead of the meeting between the US and China today, Treasury Secretary Bessent announced that the trade truce has been extended by two months to facilitate a trade deal.
Cotton sales reported on September 22 totaled 2,859 bales at an average price of 79.69 cents per pound. The Cotlook A index rose by 230 points to 93.65, and certified cotton stocks decreased by 37 bales to 29,556 bales.
The Adjusted World Price dropped back down to 68.92 cents per pound last week but will be updated on Thursday.
