Cove Point LNG Terminal to Temporarily Halt Operations for Annual Maintenance
Berkshire Hathaway Energy is shutting its Cove Point liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Maryland from September 19 for approximately two weeks as part of its scheduled annual maintenance program.
The shutdown will halt operations at one of the United States' key LNG export facilities, which can convert about 0.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day into liquefied natural gas for overseas shipments.
Routine maintenance at LNG terminals is typically carried out during spring or autumn when global demand for heating and cooling is lower than during peak winter and summer months.
