Croatian Court Approves Extradition of Ukrainian Man in Nord Stream Blast Case
A Croatian court has approved the extradition of a Ukrainian man wanted in Germany for his alleged role in damaging the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The suspect, identified as Vladimir Z., was arrested on a European warrant in August in the northern Croatian town of Pula.
German prosecutors have accused Vladimir Z. and others of planting explosives on the pipelines in the Baltic Sea near the Danish island of Bornholm. The undersea explosions on September 26, 2022, damaged the pipelines, which had been built to carry Russian natural gas to Germany.
The suspect's lawyer, Ljubo Pavaskovic, said he will appeal the court's decision, dated September 18. It is not clear when Vladimir Z. will be handed over to Germany.
