Crude Oil Futures Dip After G7 Oil Stock Release and Middle East Tensions
Crude oil futures experienced a downward shift following the G7's announcement of a strategic oil stock release. This move was aimed at stabilizing global markets, though the continued rebound in Middle Eastern exports contributed to easing some of the upward pressure on prices.
Recent geopolitical tensions have played a significant role in market fluctuations. Yemen's Houthi forces launched fresh attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure, which initially firmed crude oil benchmarks at the start of the week. Additionally, Iran's foreign minister reiterated that there is no military solution to the ongoing conflict with the US, as negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz have stalled.
On the operational front, Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline reportedly shut down again after weekend attacks, while ExxonMobil reported an operational upset at its Beaumont refinery in Texas. These disruptions added to the volatility in the oil market.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump ruled out a diesel export ban after G7 countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude, further influencing market dynamics.
