Crude Oil Futures Weigh on NY Stock Market
The stock market in New York was weighed down by rising crude oil futures and interest rates this week, according to Jiji Press. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at $52,573.29 on Friday, down $840.96 from the previous week.
The Nasdaq Composite Index also fell, closing at 26,333.04, down 173.95 points from last week's close.
Experts point to growing concerns over supply chains for Middle Eastern crude oil following attacks on pipelines in Saudi Arabia as a contributing factor.
