Crude Oil Prices Continue Downward Trend Amid Easing Geopolitical Tensions
Crude oil prices continued their decline for a third consecutive session on Wednesday as easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and hopes of resuming shipping through the Strait of Hormuz reduced concerns over supply disruptions.
The Brent crude futures fell by 1.16% to $78.44 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined by 1.5% to $74.63 per barrel.
Investors reassessed the likelihood of prolonged supply disruptions in the Middle East and unwound some of the risk premium embedded in crude prices, leading to a decline in oil prices.
The recent decline also reflects profit-booking after crude's sharp rally in July when concerns over the conflict had driven prices to multi-week highs.
