Crude Oil Prices Plummet as Market Confidence Returns
Crude oil prices have taken a hit in the global market despite rising tensions between the US and Iran. According to foreign news agency reports, Brent crude oil has dropped by $1.29 per barrel to reach $89.45 per barrel. The price of American West Texas Intermediate crude oil also decreased, trading at $83.90 per barrel after falling by 56 cents or 0.66 percent.
The decline in prices comes despite the increase in tensions between the US and Iran, which had previously driven up oil prices. However, economists say that the normal movement of oil tankers in the Middle East has given the global market confidence that oil supply will not be affected immediately, leading to pressure on prices and making crude oil cheaper.
Economists also note that fluctuations in global oil prices are influenced by a range of factors including geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, shipping issues, demand, and investor confidence. If the situation in the region worsens or there is a disruption in oil supplies, prices may rise again.
