Crude Prices Sink as Strait of Hormuz Supplies Remain Steady
Crude oil prices plummeted on Tuesday after it became apparent that supplies are flowing steadily through the Strait of Hormuz, alleviating concerns about supply disruptions. This news, combined with a rise in the US dollar index to a two-month high, had a bearish impact on energy prices.
The Trump administration's announcement that up to 40 million barrels of crude will be released from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve also contributed to the decline in oil prices. Additionally, data compiled by Bloomberg showed Saudi Arabia's crude exports stood at 5.28 million barrels per day (bpd) in September, the highest level in seven months.
However, despite these factors, analysts note that substantial declines in crude prices may be limited in the near term due to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. The rebels in Yemen have also continued their attacks against Saudi Arabia, forcing several oil facilities to halt production.
