Crude Supply to Nigeria's Domestic Refineries Surges by 88.4%

Nigeria's domestic refineries received a significant surge in crude oil and condensate supply in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The total volume supplied was 53.7 million barrels, representing an 88.4% increase from the previous quarter's 28.5 million barrels.

The NUPRC attributed the increase to a rise in local oil production and the signing of long-term crude supply agreements supported by bankable Sales and Purchase Agreements between producers and domestic refiners.

On a monthly basis, the Commission allocated volumes to producers, who exceeded expectations by offering more barrels to refiners than required. However, some months saw compliance rates below 100%, with May's production meeting only 75.8% of allocations.
