TotalEnergies and Eni have given the green light to a Cypriot gasfield project that aims to boost Egyptian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to Europe.

The project, which is set to begin in 2028, will supply feedgas to Egypt's Damietta LNG plant.

The Damietta LNG plant has been a major source of controversy in recent years due to its environmental impact and the risks associated with transporting LNG by sea.
